The world-famous Louvre Museum in Paris was closed on Sunday after thieves stole nine jewellery pieces from its gallery. The museum has seen several major thefts over the years. In 1911, Mona Lisa painting was stolen and recovered after two years. During World War II, Nazis looted thousands of artworks. In 1983, two Renaissance armours were stolen.
