What is 'dessert stomach'?
short by Medhaa Gupta / on Sunday, 23 February, 2025
'Dessert stomach' is a term used to describe the feeling of craving sugar even after a person has eaten a full meal. A study conducted by researchers from Max Planck Institute for Metabolism Research revealed POMC neurones in the brain's hypothalamus control this response. These neurons regulate food intake and release β-endorphins that stimulate sugar cravings even when full.
