"Ghost tapping" is a new scam targeting contactless payment methods, including tap-to-pay cards and mobile wallets. According to the Better Business Bureau (BBB), scammers may pose as vendors at events and ask for tap payments, or request small donations but charge the card for much larger amounts. They may also make small withdrawals to avoid triggering fraud detection systems.
