The delimitation exercise, which is set to begin to redraw constituencies and increase Lok Sabha seats to 850 from 543, is routine exercise to carve out new seats and decide their boundaries. It ensures states get due representation with growing population. Some southern states fear losing seats due to population control measures, but government ensured seats won’t be reduced.
