When a person gets infected by a virus or any other pathogen, the body reacts to it and produces antibodies. Rapid antibody tests measure the level of certain immunoglobulins, or antibodies, in the blood and it can be done using a fingerprick. A patient who couldn't get tested earlier or self-recovered can be identified with an antibody test.
