At least 89 people were killed after a violent thundersquall tore through five districts of UP. A thundersquall is a fast-moving, violent convective storm. In May, plains of north India bake under hot temperatures. That superheated air near the ground rises rapidly. As it does, it pulls in cooler, moisture-laden air from other directions. The collision creates towering storm clouds.
