AI sycophancy refers to AI models excessively agreeing with users at the expense of accuracy and objectivity. It occurs in AI models as models want approval from users, and sometimes, models lie to get good ratings. Researchers say sycophancy also occurs as human feedback is routinely included in training AI. ChatGPT's GPT‑4o update was rolled back due to sycophantic behaviour.
