What is an acute subdural hematoma?

An acute subdural hematoma (SDH) is a form of traumatic brain injury wherein a clot of blood develops between surface of the brain and the dura mater, the brain’s tough outer covering. It results from tears in bridging veins. Symptoms of acute SDH include severe headache, weakness on one side of the body, seizures and changes in vision or speech.
