What is an IPO and how does it work?

An IPO is when a private company sells its shares to public to raise equity capital, BajajFinserv reported. The company then converts into a publicly listed company, allowing its stock to trade on public exchange. In Fixed Price IPO, shares are sold at pre-determined price, while in Book Building, companies provide price range/band within which investors can bid for shares.
