Four children have died in Gujarat's Sabarkantha district due to suspected Chandipura virus (CHPV). CHPV belongs to genus Vesiculovirus, family Rhabdoviridae and was discovered during outbreak of dengue-chikungunya-like illness in Maharashtra's Chandipura village in 1965. It causes fever and leads to acute encephalitis (inflammation of brain). It's transmitted by vectors like mosquitoes and ticks.
