What is chucking in cricket?
short by Anmol Sharma / on Wednesday, 11 February, 2026
Chucking refers to an illegal bowling action wherein a player is throwing rather than bowling the ball. ICC defines it as being where player’s elbow extends by an amount of over 15 degrees between their arm reaching horizontal and ball being released. Pakistan's Usman Tariq has been accused of chucking, however, his action has been approved by ICC after testing.
