What is Earth's terminator?

Earth's terminator is the boundary between night and day. Because Earth spins on a tilted axis, the line's orientation changes over the course of a year in sync with seasons. On September and March equinox, light is spread evenly across the globe and the terminator runs from pole to pole. But on December and June solstice, the terminator appears slanted.
