A new Moon occurs when all of Sun's light is reflected away from Earth, and the side of Moon facing Earth is barely visible. Sometimes the dark face of Moon catches Earth's reflected glow and returns that light. This phenomenon is called earthshine. The earthshine Moon will be visible for next few days but will be brightest over the weekend.
