Heat stress is a combination of rising air, land surface temperatures and relative humidity causing acute thermal discomfort, a Centre for Science and Environment (CSE) study said. It occurs when the body can't get rid of excess heat which may lead to fainting and even death. Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata & Hyderabad are experiencing worsening "heat stress", CSE added.
