Heteropaternal superfecundation occurs when a second ova released during the same menstrual cycle is additionally fertilised by the sperm cells of a different man in separate sexual intercourse. This leads to the birth of twins who do not share the father and instead, have different fathers. It is an extremely rare phenomenon.
