India's 'Act East Policy', announced in November 2014, is a diplomatic initiative to promote ties between India and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) on components such as culture, commerce, connectivity and capacity building. Enhanced security is another initiative of the 'Act East Policy'. Notably, PM Narendra Modi is currently in Laos to attend the 21st ASEAN-India summit.
