Cloud-9 is a newly identified cosmic object located about 14 million light-years away near spiral galaxy Messier 94. It contains a compact cloud of neutral hydrogen gas but no stars. Scientists say it sits inside a massive dark-matter halo, making it the first confirmed example of a long-predicted "failed galaxy" that never formed stars in the early universe.
