What is known about India's first fully indigenous AK-203 'Sher' rifle
India has manufactured and test-fired the first fully indigenous AK-203 'Sher' assault rifle. Based on Kalashnikov design, it uses 7.62×39mm ammunition and can fire around 700 rounds per minute, with an effective range of up to 800 metres. It uses a detachable magazine holding 30 rounds. It's a gas-operated assault rifle with a rotating-bolt mechanism and weighs about 3.8 kg.
