Delhi-based Moti Mahal sued Daryaganj for ₹2-crore for allegedly falsely claiming to have invented butter chicken, dal makhani and copying its restaurants' 'look and feel'. Moti Mahal claims founder Kundan Lal Gujral created butter chicken in 1930s. Daryaganj says late family member Kundan Lal Jaggi and Gujral partnered to open the Delhi restaurant in 1947 and dish was invented there.
