What is Okinawa diet, associated with long life?

The Okinawa diet originates from Okinawa, Japan, a region popular for having one of the highest life expectancy rates in the world. It's primarily plant-based, emphasising vegetables, whole grains, soy products and moderate amounts of fish. The traditional Okinawan diet is the lowest in fat intake and highest in carbohydrate intake, in keeping with very high intake of sweet potatoes.
