What is oxytocin and why injecting cattle with it has been banned in India?
short by Shalini ojha / on Saturday, 4 May, 2024
Oxytocin, also known as love hormone, is a hormone promoting positive feelings. After a baby's birth, it helps move milk from the ducts in the breast to the nipple and builds a bond between the mother and child. In India, injecting oxytocin into cattle to increase milk production was banned as it affects both animals and humans consuming the milk.
