What is pilonidal sinus?

A 21-year-old UPSC aspirant has undergone successful treatment for pilonidal sinus in Delhi. A pilonidal sinus is a small hole or tunnel at the top of a person's bottom, between the buttocks. Treatment is usually only needed if it becomes infected. An infection will cause pain, swelling at top of the cleft in buttocks, and pus-filled skin abscess can develop.
