What is repo rate?

The repo rate is the interest rate at which the central bank of the country (Reserve Bank of India in the case of India) lends money to commercial banks for short-term needs, NDTV reported. It's used by central bank to manage inflation and liquidity in the economy. Notably, RBI on Wednesday cut the repo rate by 25 bps to 6%.
