September Equinox marks the beginning of the fall season for the Northern Hemisphere. This year's September Equinox took place today. It occurs when the Sun is directly above the Equator. The term 'Equinox' comes from Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night). At the equinox, days and nights are said to be equal in length for everyone across the globe.
