The Special Protection Group (SPG) is the highest-level protection given to Indian PM, former PMs for a certain time and their immediate families. SPG Special Agents assigned to PM's security carry concealed handguns and two-way encrypted communication earpiece, while its special operations' commandos carry ultra-modern assault rifles. The SPG was formed after ex-PM Indira Gandhi's assassination.
