The word 'Streedhan' has been derived from Sanskrit words 'Stree' meaning woman and 'dhana' meaning property. As per Hindu Law, Streedhan refers to any asset received by a woman at any point during her lifetime. It includes all movable, immovable property gifts received by women prior to marriage, at the time of marriage, during childbirth and during her widowhood.
