The Territorial Army, which Centre has authorised Chief of the Army Staff to call upon amid India-Pakistan tensions, is a military reserve force of part-time volunteers who provide support services to Indian Army. Deemed as India's second line of defence, it handles non-combat duties and assists in emergencies. Territorial Army comprises around 50,000 personnel, including 65 departmental units.
