Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams is battling a new crisis after Central Silk Board tests revealed that silk shawls given to devotees were actually polyester. The supplier, VRS Export, allegedly provided fake shawls for a decade despite tenders mandating pure mulberry silk. The supplier provided material worth ₹54.95 crore to TTD between 2015 and 2025, without the required silk hologram.
