What is the 'sengol' installed in Parliament that Opposition wants replaced?

According to government, the five-foot 'sengol' (sceptre) installed in new Parliament, is symbol of Independence. It was accepted by Jawaharlal Nehru in 1947 to signify transfer of power from British. SP MP RK Chaudhary called it "symbol of monarchy", seeking its replacement with Constitution and INDIA bloc leaders supported him. BJP called Chaudhary's remarks an "insult" to Tamil culture.
