The Kakhovka dam, which has been blown up by Russia in Ukraine, was built in 1956 on the Dnipro river. The dam, built as part of the Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant, supplies water to the Crimean peninsula and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant. It holds water equal to the Great Salt Lake in the US state of Utah.
