A Puducherry-based businessman, N Raja, was arrested in December 2025 in an alleged ₹5,000-crore counterfeit medicines racket. When the probe deepened, the CBI found out that Raja tried to find influential people who could help him get out. In the process, he got in touch with IPS officer Deepak Gahlawat, who demanded ₹3 crore to influence officials in the CBI.
