Lord's Cricket Ground isn't flat as it features a slope. The slope runs across from the north end (Grandstand) to the south end (Tavern), with a drop of around 8 feet 2 inches. This sideways gradient is said to affect ball movement. Authorities at Lord's say the slope is a "traditional aspect" of the ground and must never be changed.
