Originally inspired by motocross technology, the Holeshot Device was first introduced to MotoGP in 2018. It works by locking the bike's front forks in a compressed position as the rider approaches the grid, allowing the rider to maintain a lower centre of gravity during acceleration. This prevents the front wheel from lifting, or "wheelieing," particularly at the race start.
