The National Guard is a reserve component of US Armed Forces, comprising the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard and it serves both state and federal governments. It is composed of part-time soldiers who can be deployed for domestic emergencies/overseas missions. US President Donald Trump recently deployed over 2,000 National Guard members to curb riots in Los Angeles.
