A new 'Jumped Deposit' scam is targeting mobile banking users where a scammer sends a small amount, typically around ₹5,000, to a potential victim's bank account using UPI. The scammer then instantly sends a withdrawal request to the person with a much higher amount. When the victim opens banking app and enters PIN out of curiosity, fraudulent withdrawal gets approved.
