On January 1, the Assam government announced the ‘Babu Asoni’ scheme. From February 1, postgraduate male students will receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000, and undergraduate students will receive ₹1,000. The scheme benefits boys from economically weaker sections pursuing higher education (HS, Graduation, PG, B.Ed.) in the state. Children of government employees are not eligible under this scheme.
