Bihar being a dry state, smugglers source alcohol from neighbouring Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Smugglers have changed their modus operandi and are using horses for transportation of alcohol from the neighbouring states, as per the police. With increased patrolling on the roads, liquor smugglers now prefer to transport banned consignment through the Gandak riverine belt.
