Bone marrow is a spongy substance found in the centre of the bones, which performs the role of manufacturing bone marrow stem cells, which in turn produce blood cells, including red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets. In case of diseases that impact these cells, a bone marrow transplant is needed in an effort to restart healthy cell production.
