UK's River Severn reverses its flow sometimes due to a rare natural phenomenon called a tidal bore. The phenomenon can be seen when the incoming tide forms a sudden, powerful wave that travels up a river against the direction of the river's flow. It happens when tide is very strong, and the river mouth is shallow, narrow, or funnel-shaped.
