What is Toxic Shock Syndrome?

Toxic shock syndrome is a rare but serious condition caused by bacteria that release toxins into the bloodstream. It can affect anyone and may result from tampons, wounds, surgery, or infections. Symptoms include sudden fever, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, dizziness, and low blood pressure. Common bacteria causing TSS are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Clostridium sordellii.
