White coat hypertension, or white coat syndrome, is the term to describe a person getting high blood pressure reading in a doctor's office and a normal reading at home. People more likely to experience white coat syndrome include individuals over 50, those assigned female at birth, those recently diagnosed with high blood pressure, those with obesity, and non-tobacco users.
