A Moneycontrol report said that the top 100 companies by market value are classified as large-cap stocks. Companies ranked between 101 and 250, which have moved beyond the early stage but still have growth potential, fall under mid-cap stocks. Younger or emerging businesses come under small-cap stocks. Blue-chip stocks refer to financially strong, well-established companies with the highest value.
