Filing an income tax return (ITR) before the July 31, 2026, deadline does not necessarily mean that a taxpayer will not receive an income tax notice. According to The Economic Times, several factors can trigger a notice despite timely filing. They include income mismatches, unreported interest income, TDS/TCS mismatches, high-value financial transactions and capital gains discrepancies.
