The Pearl Harbor attack was a surprise aerial attack by Japan on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The attack was intended to keep the US Pacific Fleet from interfering with Japanese military action in southeast Asia. The attacks killed over 2,400 US servicemen and civilians and forced its entry into the World War II.
