What will be excluded from the FTA between India and EU?
short by Bhawana Chaudhary / on Tuesday, 27 January, 2026
The Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and European Union fully excludes sensitive agricultural products from liberalisation. Products such as beef, chicken meat, rice and sugar will remain outside the scope of tariff cuts. This reflects India's cautious approach to opening up politically sensitive farm sectors. All imports will continue to be subject to EU's health and food safety rules.
