When does a missed EMI start affecting a borrower's credit score?

Missing an EMI by a day does not instantly hurt a borrower's credit score. An overdue payment is reported only if it remains unpaid when the lender shares repayment data with credit bureaus under the RBI's reporting schedule. The longer the EMI stays overdue, the greater the potential impact on the borrower's credit history and score.
