When is a chess player called Grandmaster?

Grandmaster is the highest title or ranking that a chess player can achieve. The Grandmaster title, is awarded by the international chess federation, FIDE. A player must have an Elo chess rating of at least 2500 and three favourable results (norms) in tournaments involving other Grandmasters. The three norms must be earned from at least 27 games played in tournaments.
