There are over 1,000 headmaster posts and thousands of teacher posts vacant in Tamil Nadu government schools. Even though all government schools come under the Department of School Education, different wings are responsible for primary and secondary schools. The shortage of headmasters and teachers is causing dire straits for teachers and students due to the government’s failure to fill vacancies.
