The Westland Wapiti biplane was the first aircraft to be inducted in the Indian Air Force, in 1933, serving in Burma in World War II. The Canberra and Gnats flew in the 1965 and 1971 Indo-Pak conflicts. The first squadron of indigenous Tejas aircraft was inducted in IAF in 2016, which comprise the present-day fleet along with MiGs and Sukhois.
