Russia has the largest forest area in the world in 2025, covering 832 million hectares or 20% of the global total, according to a report released by UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO). It’s followed by Brazil (12%), Canada (9%), the US (7%), and China (5%). India ranks 9th with 72.7 million hectares, accounting for about 2% of world’s forests.
